kazoku: Anime or manga written with an intended audience of families.

kodomo: Anime or manga directed toward an audience of children, usually fables or moral stories.

lolicon: Anime or manga depicting young girls in a sexual or erotic manner, as in the novel "Lolita."

maho shonen: A type of shonen that features themes of magic, wizards and science-fiction.

maho shojo: A type of shojo anime in which the main characters are young girls with magical powers who fight evil, also known as "magical girls."

manga: Print comics which are published in Japan.

mangaka: An artist of manga; like a cartoonist in English.

moe: Japanese word to describe passion or love for a manga or anime character.

Otakon: A convention for fans of anime and manga held annual in Baltimore, Md.

otaku: Geeks or obsessive fans of anime and manga, so much to the point of neglecting social skills and manners.
